Marking 30 years of fire safety education in Chicago, the Chicago Fire Department Foundation has created The Fire Escape—a one-of-a-kind virtual reality experience that teaches children the 10 steps to fire safety.
The Chicago Fire Department currently uses coloring books to teach fire safety. This year students will put down the crayons, pick up hand-held controllers and use the steps to escape a “fire” in a virtual Chicago two-flat.
The Chicago Fire Department has been at the forefront of advancements in firefighting tactics for many years. The addition of this innovative program continues that tradition by bringing children’s fire safety education into the 21st century.
