On December 1, 1958, this city was shaken to its core by the horribly tragic deaths of 92 children and 7 Religious Sisters at the Our Lady of Angels School fire on Chicago’s West Side. For days and weeks afterward this city mourned the loss of these innocent lives. Their families have never forgotten and thus gather every year to memorialize those who perished in this disaster.
This year marks the 62nd anniversary of this tragedy. Family, friends, and the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) will come together for a Memorial Mass to remember the 99 lives lost that day. The Service will take place on Sunday, November 29th at Holy Family Church, 1080 W. Roosevelt Rd at 5pm. Presiding will be Fr. Gary Graf, Chaplain of the Chicago Fire Department. Serving as Honor Guard will be Knights of Columbus from CFD St. Florian Council and CPD St. Michael Council.
Due to Coivid-19 restrictions face coverings are to be worn at all times by those in attendance and social distancing will be required of all.
